The Human Story
Mass Youth Exodus
Every year, 80% of secondary school graduates, flee their homes to escape stagnation. This mass exodus is a desperate attempt to mend broken dreams, but it comes at a price. Despite the region being top of Nigeria’s most educated population, it loses up to 20% of its youth every five years to migration, fueling urban strain and the global threat of internet scams. We believe nobody is safe until everyone is. Through our digital learning and solar energy education programs, we empower the resilient youths to build global careers, turning a story of migration into one of local transformation.
The Community
Umudim is among the communities where we work in Imo state, the Southeast of Nigeria. It has 11 rural villages built on resilience and community efforts, attracting telecommunication, solar and grid electricity. Located 30 minutes drive from Owerri, the capital city with an airport, it could attract international investors, mentors and educators who want to bypass the congestion of large cities like Lagos or Abuja. Its state-run secondary school is essentially a “holding” center rather than a learning center, it has no functional digital resource hub, but it presents an opportunity for total monopoly for a low-cost private school or digital infrastructure, a co-working space or rural tech center.
How To Be Part of This
While we support learners with digital resources, there are countless talented people in the community facing a crushing shortage of digital devices to access the resources. The demand always exceeds our budget. We say YES to one more tablet or a laptop, one extra month of internet subscription or partnership for a functional digital resource center.
Personal Development
We started with 3 local teachers, 1 used laptop and one center for personal development. We invest in people via digital and STEM education, solar energy education to improve capabilities to succeed.
Educational Software
Our trainees develop educational software for school management and solar education.
